Phase 6
Phase
6 Objective:
“Orion
Complete"
“Phase 6 Objectives Discussed" ·
The
Orion level containing the final restaurant, presentation room and dance room
will be complete by December 2008. The
restaurant moves to the Orion level freeing up the Meditation Room and Casa de
Julio for Phase 7 development ·
The
Presentation Room, with it’s state of the art equipment will improve greatly
the quality of presentations given to the visitors. It will also bring
more Iquitos students onto the pyramid as we invite UNAP, UPI and the Iquitos
School of Arts to utilise the pyramid for a couple of hours a day. This
may bring more restaurant business into the pyramid but above all it promotes
and adds an air of learning whilst integrating the people of Iquitos with their
world visitors ·
The
dance room means that the tourist experience can benefit from dance as an aid to
their learning experience. Techniques such as “Trance Dance” help
break down inhibitions as dancers are given the permission to break thru inner
boundaries. · The pyramid is now ready to be hired out for functions providing that the no smoking, no alcohol principles are respected. Again for promotion purposes this might be very cheap indeed, if not free. (The Honey Moon concept will also begin by now)
"Phase
6 Task Summary"
"Phase 6 Task Details" 6.1
Orion
Leaves ·
As
with all other levels, leaves will follow the pyramid shape from the floor above
down to about 2m height from the outside balcony. The leaves start again,
ready to meet the floor below at about the level of the plant boxes and external
benches ·
As
with all other levels, in the corners of the pyramid the leaves will span right
from the top to the bottom of the floor’s height. This is to prevent the
pyramid looking like a “step pyramid” when viewed from a distance because
the edges are given a filled-in, continuous 42 degree edge. ·
Leaves
come in 3m strips and the number of actual leaves depict the quality. The best
quality of 120 leaves per 3m will be used. As with any natural thatching
it is necessary to replace them every few years ·
Rain
collection guttering and sewage pipes to be added as per drawings 6.2
Orion
Floor ·
The
Orion floor in the Presentation Room and Dance Room will be in Violetta and all
one colour, it is not based on a web design like other floors. The
restaurant floor is Masaranduba and is waterproofed underneath just like all the
external 2m walkways around sides of every floor ·
The
waterproofing of floors consists of tarring the underside and controlling where
the rain water will flow off of them. The external walkway floors will
have a slight camber which permits water to run off to the edges where it is
collected in a guttering. The boards will be crossways to the external
walkways such that water collects in the floorboard toothing and the camber
takes this to the guttering ·
Every
morning the walkways will be dry swept and then swept with a little water.
A process will exist so that at the time of cleaning this dirty water is
switched from the water collection system into the sewage pipe ·
The
4m x 0.25m x 1” thick floorboards are supported every one meter by two 2”
screws. (10 per board). ·
All
pyramid floorboards are smoothed one side and toothed such that a 1cm – 1.5cm
groove is visible above. (Less than 1cm wide makes sweeping more
difficult). This toothing prevents dust and debris from penetrating to the
floor below and controls drainage 6.3
Orion
External Walls and Doors ·
Unlike
other levels, the external wall does not exist all around the edges of
Orion. The restaurant is essentially open so that tables can be situated
right up to the edges and have an outside feel to them ·
The
restaurant is considered an outside space. When it rains tables are pulled
inwards closer to the centre of the building. (The floor is waterproofed).
·
During
the evening, if mosquitoes are a problem, the restaurant may move into the dance
room or mosquito nets simply dropped and tied off 6.4
Orion Internal Walls and Doors ·
Internal
walls and doors are added as per the drawings to create the presentation room,
toilets and dance room ·
The
juice bar counter is also added here. ·
The
stairwell is boarded off on the Eastern side giving the Presentation room
privacy and securing the till area of the juice bar. Notice boards are
added outside of the presentation room. White boards are added in the
presentation room and in the dance room ·
The
Presentation room benches area added along with the secondary flooring that
raises the benches 15cm per one meter. The underside of this area is
carefully designed so that 50 rebounders can be stored without having to take
their legs off. Rebounders are mini trampolines and used for
exercise. At times the whole dance floor will be covered in rebounders
which is great fun when combined with loud music 6.5
