Pyramid Design - Queens (Level 2)

Overview

In this following drawing you can see the whole of the second level.  This is a 34.12m squared base.  We'll look at each part of it below in detail.  The top of the drawing is due East

The Balcony Auditorium

The centre of Queens has no floor and so it is possible to see down to the swimming pool and stage below, of the platform level

The benches around the outside seat 75 people bring audience capacity up to 500.  In the East and to the back of the stage there is a fire escape altho this is not shown.  The blue dots along the left and the right sides are the East-West Remocaspi columns that come up from the Platform and go on to support the Kings level above.  They also support two massive East-West iron floor supports for Queens

The ceiling of Queens will be made up of a pattern of Remocaspi arches - this is yet to be designed.  Arches will also be used on the ceiling of the level below to support the balcony benches area.  As a general theme in the pyramid, columns and arches will have plants growing up them

The Western Stairwell

In the bottom of the plan you can see the Western stairwell which comes up from the Platform above and continues on to the Kings level above.  In the area West (below) this on the plan there is no floor and so you can see down to reception and watch a boat coming in

The bathrooms provide facilities for the theatre visitors.  To the right of the plan you can see the courtesy bedroom - this will never be booked out but will be there at the hotel manager's disposal.  There are also cleaner rooms

The Rooms and Pyramid Living

There are 14 hotel rooms on Queens.  These standard sized rooms are 4.3m x 6.4m which is larger than most hotel rooms.  All rooms are locationally harmonised so they fit inside a fractal of the pyramid

Some rooms are twin:-

Each room has a tiled bathroom with a toilet, hand basin and shower.  The water comes from the rain water collected on the floor above.  (The red circles are concealed water containers). Showers are cold water as is typical in a tropical climate.  The waste water is directed to a septic tank which is underwater on the North-East corner.

Each room has an entrance from the interior of the pyramid - the interior walls and doors have no windows and generally prevent air from the rooms entering into the pyramid because altho smoking and insect repellents are prohibited in the pyramid guests not savvy to the natural way may possibly still use toxic substances such as unfriendly soaps, shampoos, hair sprays or nail varnish etc.  The exterior walls of the rooms have plenty of windows and a back door leading to the external walkway.  Windows are simply mosquito netting.  Windows can also be opened for even more freshness during the day

Each room has a sofa and low table for relaxing, perhaps for taking in a book.  There are no TVs in the rooms and music may only be played thru personal head phones to prevent noise pollution to other guests.  The pyramid is a place of meditation to many and the protection of this tranquillity is of paramount importance - the pyramid is no ordinary hotel

Each room has a desk and by the desk there will be an electrical socket meant really for recharging telephones or laptops.  (Mobile phones do work at the pyramid site).  Electrical energy in the pyramid is solar and so we hope that guests will not use hair dryers etc. to prevent over consumption and blackouts - in time we will find ways to have abundant electrical energy but this may be a year or two off.  All lights are low energy and are kind of meant for adhoc visits to the bathroom during the night or 5 to 10 minutes when one is getting ready for bed etc. - the "pyramid way" is to sleep with the sun or seek out a communal area which is lit such as the platform area, the restaurant, mini cinema, a juice bar and of course the Iquitos nightlife (the ferry will run thru the night too).  The naked flame is prohibited in this wooden building to prevent fire risk and air pollution which means candles, josh sticks or kerosene lighting may not be used

All walls are sound proofed with balsa wood and doors and windows designed so that they can only close silently.  I dare say pyramid etiquette will be established over time and we hope we can do this gracefully without further rules.  With a no alcohol policy in place we hope a non vexatious air will be maintained.  Revellers coming in from a night out in Iquitos will be gagged on entry (umm... may be this is going to far! LOL!!) ...seriously Saturday nights will be less strict on noise as it is expected that guests may wish to sample the Iquitos nightlife

The floors are patterned in the woods Pali Sangre (Red) and Guariuva (Yellow).  The walls are Marupa (Light coloured).  Each room has one painting and a spiritual poster, perhaps the work of Pablo Amaringo or Alex Grey for example...

There will also be a whiteboard for guests to play with.  Each room will have a copy of Paulo Coehlo's "The Alchemist" as a gift - we also ask that guests donate their favourite book to the pyramid's library

The Queens level is associated with the Sacral Chakra and the colour orange.  It is also linked to sexuality, creativity and emotion.  We encourage singles and/or those wishing to sample the Iquitos nightlife to choose to stay in Queens
