The Pyramid's Shamanic Tour

Iquitos, Peru

Don Guillermo

“Famous for a reason"
The spirit of the anaconda resides here

A humble man, Guillermo Arévalo is a Cuarandero descended from generations of shamanic healers.  In 1972, at the age of 24, he voluntarily entered the field of traditional medicine.  In 1980, after gaining much experience, knowledge and expertise, he was initiated into the shamanic practices of his own culture, that of the Shipibo-Konibo.  In 1982, he founded the Application of Traditional Medicines Project (AMETRA) in Pucallpa

Don Guillermo is always happy to share some of his wisdom and good spirit

He is regularly invited throughout the Americas and Europe to share his knowledge in plant therapy.  He has participated in the creation of various documentaries about the Shipibo people and Curanderismo.  He also stared in Jan Kounen's 2003 feature film entitled Renegade (Blueberry) which has the most famous scene concerning Ayahuasca ever filmed.  That ten minute scene alone has convinced many people to travel to South America where plant shamanism is still alive today

There are few jungle retreats more luxurious than Guillermo's retreat.  With countless private sleeping quarters scattered around, a large Maloca for ceremonies, a comfortable dining area, and a beautifully manicured surrounding environment you can enjoy the jungle without the hardships normally associated with being away from civilisation

The large and friendly staff are always on hand and willing to help out when needed.  Generally there are two delicious meals served daily which suits anyone participating in a ceremony.  If you require extra meals, (perhaps you choose to skip a ceremony), the staff will cook specifically for you. Other refreshments like tea and fruit are always available

The bathrooms at Guillermo's are some of the cleanest around Iquitos
