The Pyramid's Shamanic Tour Iquitos, Peru The Carnival
“The
Iquitos Carnival - First Saturday of February"
For some reason there are many more women than men in Iquitos which makes it a great place to come to find a beautiful mate if you are a guy looking for a partner. The women here have it doubly as bad because not only are there fewer men but a disproportionate number of them are gay - it is like the whole of Iquitos is shifted towards the female hormones. There are many very beautiful women here. The carnival queen below for example...
Part of the carnival is a celebration for the gay community, just like Gay Pride back in the UK...
Tourist Advice... Unlike UK carnivals no money is ever collected or thrown because people are too poor. However the carnival is one big water fight for the whole week leading up to the event. If you travel in a motocab be prepared to get a soaking! On the actual day of the carnival flour is also thrown and sometimes even paint - so you don't want to be wearing your best clothes. Keep cameras in a waterproof bag. There is very low crime here so have no fear of wandering amongst the crowd. - just use the same common sense you would back at home
The Shipibo Community...
More amazing costumes...
The Bora Community...
Iquitos: Probably the most friendly people in the world! ...and the happiest. That's what you get when you live in the centre of the biggest and most diverse bio land mass on the planet Iquitos: Last bastion for the free man. If the solution is to reconnect mankind to nature, where better to initiate the great change?
