The Pyramid's Shamanic Tour Iquitos, Peru Monkey Island
“La
Isla de los Monos" La Isla de los Monos is one of Iquitos's most beautiful nature spots and a great place to see monkeys. Just forty-five minutes down river by rapido boat, you will find a small paradise filled with the most playful inhabitants this side of the Amazon
As soon as you get off the boat the monkeys are ready to hang out... literally! Monkey Island has about forty domesticated monkeys of all different kinds, a lovely trail filled with exotic fruits and knowledgeable guides to help make it not only a fun but educational experience, as well
You will get a little lesson on monkeys in English, there are 9 species on the island...
The owner Gilberto Guerra Reátegui is always eager to help. The proceeds go to benefit the local ecology
The monkeys at Monkey Island are very tactile and visitors are encouraged to handle them...
Mandel from Holland enjoyed the Monkey business...
They loved Courtney's hair. Courtney is from the USA....
Make sure to bring some bananas
The Pyramid's Shamanic Tour will take you to Monkey Island on the second week assuming you decide to take the two week tour. If you are doing just the one week tour and decide you'd rather go to Monkey Island than the Butterfly Farm then this can also be arranged
Penny for your thoughts... Look at this monkey a second and ponder on his intelligence. What is he thinking? How is his intelligence different from ours? One of the things about experiencing Ayahuasca is that you seem to be transported into another dimension where the things you see and learn just have no words. It seems impossible to articulate many of those experiences and yet you know you learnt something very important Let's suppose we took our friend away from his friends at Monkey Island and transported him to a New York shopping mall. He'd see colours he'd never seen before, he'd see so much that he had previously no comprehension of. When we bought him back to Monkey Island how would he explain to his friends what he'd seen? Learning Shamanism and experiencing the psychedelic dimension is experiential because often there are no words to articulate your experiences Here is a nice shot of Matthew our promotion guy and a monkey. Now which is which? :o)
